Sophie's collages are primarily figurative, but they show a gaze that is turned inward, expressing an individual experience: the intimate, the vulnerable. Their dismantling forms convey a fragmentation of identity, a dissociation from one's own body, the psychological toll of exposure to repetitive messages from social and cultural constructions still rooted in misogyny and patriarchal power. The surreal quality of the collages evokes the absurdity of this dissolution, this alienation. At its core, this work is about the gaze: not how a woman is seen, but how she experiences being seen and sees herself. The mirror becomes a symbol here, not for vanity or self-objectification, but for the painful space where self-perception meets the weight of external judgment.
