RECYCLART BXL
This mural work was conceived on a wall of Recyclart, based in Molenbeek since 2018. Recyclart is a pluridisciplinary structure composed of an ARTS CENTER and socio-professional integration projects. These are embodied by the BAR RECYCLART (a veggie/vegan/halal bar/restaurant) and RECYCLART FABRIK (wood/metal/infra workshops).
The mural is a co-creation project together with visual artist Larissa Viaene, made in 2020. For Recyclart, we brought our two visual worlds together by mixing large-scale collage prints with a hand-painted fresco. At the heart of this process is playfulness, an openness to letting go and seeing what emerges when two practices meet, telling a story together.
BIRTH
Birth is a video work based on filmed footage from a hand made feather cloak by Rebecca Lenaerts. The texture and movement of the feathers melt together with the visceral handcrafted modular sound of AtomTM and the poetic imagery of Sophie Vanhomwegen. The viewer is transported on the friction between the digital and nature, between observation and imagination, between the tactile and the visceral.
