Sophie Vanhomwegen

This mural work was conceived on a wall of Recyclart, based in Molenbeek since 2018. Recyclart is a pluridisciplinary structure and an art center for socio-professional integrational projects. These are embodied by the BAR RECYCLART (a veggie/vegan/halal bar/restaurant) and RECYCLART FABRIK (wood/metal/infra workshops).

The mural is a co-creation project together with visual artist Larissa Viaene, made in 2020. For Recyclart, we brought our two visual worlds together by mixing large-scale collage prints with a hand-painted fresco. At the heart of this process is playfulness, an openness to letting go and seeing what emerges when two practices meet, telling a story together.
